While Europe cleaves ever tighter to Ukraine facing continuing warnings of U.S. withdrawal, the danger is that Trump has rationalized a rationale for not listening to his allies.

These developments demands a robust response from capitals across Europe. Although certain figures, such as Germany's leader, have been forceful in their pushback, including the office of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer—have opted for a strategy of seeking to placate the White House.

Recently, a Downing Street spokesperson refused to push back on the president's remarks about Europe or his latest criticism on the mayor of London.
